Bus drivers wage negotiations settled
The CCMA is pleased to announce that an agreement was reached on 14 May 2018, which saw the end of the bus strike. A 9% wage increase in the first year and 8% in the second year, was agreed to. The offer will be backdated to 17 April, the date of commencement of the strike.
CCMA Director, Cameron Sello Morajane, congratulates all parties on the settlement. The bus sector is a crucial stakeholder in the South African public transport system, and this settlement represents commitment to labour peace and economic development, Morajane said. The CCMA remains committed to supporting the labour market in facilitating improved Collective Bargaining to promote orderly and healthy labour relations, as prioritised in the CCMA’s five (5) year Senz’umehluko Strategy.
